Sometimes we are so engrossed in bad things that happen to us that we need stories where people are in the worst situation but never get disheartened and come out of the situation victorious.
This happened to me a few days back. 2024 is a year I would gleefully delete from my life if God gave me that power but I don’t have that. I was overwhelmed by sadness in the last few weeks when I came across Namita Roy’s story which inspired me to stop ruminating and start focusing on my Goal.
In 2004, Namita, then a 26-year-old pregnant woman, experienced the wrath of the deadly tsunami that devastated Hut Bay Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. With her home destroyed and her family taking refuge in a snake-infested jungle, she went into labor. She delivered her son surrounded by chaos and fear. They named their son Tsunami.
Namita not only survived the harsh conditions but ensured her premature baby stayed alive despite limited resources. Her unputdownable spirit helped her survive the tsunami.
But that was not the end of her woes. She lost her husband during COVID-19. After losing her husband, Namita took charge of her family and ran a food delivery service called ‘Tsunami Kitchen’ to support her sons education.
Her elder son, Saurabh, now works in a private shipping company, while her younger son, Tsunami, aspires to become an oceanographer. Namita’s relentless spirit, determination, and unwavering love for her family make her an inspiration to all of us.
Through her story, Namita reminds us that no matter how overwhelming life may seem, the human spirit is capable of extraordinary strength. Her story was the dose of inspiration that my heart and soul were craving a few weeks back. I am sure it will do the same magic for you.
