One day, while flipping through a glossy magazine, Suchi Mukherjee spotted a piece of jewelry she adored. Eager to buy it, she came to know that a local artisan in Mumbai crafted the stunning piece, but there was no way to connect with the seller. Though disappointed, this moment sparked an idea that would eventually give birth to LimeRoad, now a leading Indian e-commerce platform connecting artisans and shoppers nationwide.
Suchi Mukherjee, born in 1973 to a middle-class family in Haryana, pursued her passion for academics with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, specializing in Economics and Mathematics, from the University of Cambridge. She further honed her expertise with a Master’s in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics. Shortly after completing her studies, Suchi started her successful professional journey.
Suchi Mukherjee faced many challenges in building her business. She dealt with complex bank processes, company registration, and other formalities. Balancing work, family, and entrepreneurship was also tough. She believes women face added pressure due to high family expectations. However, Mukherjee credits her supportive family as her strength. Her husband and children are her biggest inspirations.
